The JSEB started on or about January 19, 1999. After a week of watching The Daily Show and just about everything else she could get her hands on, Miss Rebecca decided to start the Brigade, based loosely on the concept of the Patrick Stewart and David Duchovny Estrogen Brigades. After a week, the JSEB had 17 members, and the JSEB was dropped for a few months due to personal reasons. Miss Allison joined the JSEB, and when the JSEB was started again in May, the number of members skyrocketed with the help of Miss Allison's aggressive marketing and playful newsletter. Miss Krissy eventually joined the JSEB and assisted with some large and time-consuming projects, including the member directory and television and webcast transcripts. In September of 1999, Miss Manda, Goddess of Web Design, joined the JSEB and changed the site from the old stripes and text to the site design you see now. She added a massive number of articles and pictures and expanded the site overall. The site boasted the largest and most comprehensive collection of Jon material on the 'net at the time and was quite beautiful to boot (Annie-Wan's opinion). In May of 2000, Annie, due to her close and continuing relationship with the JSEB, joined the JSEB as Annie-Wan Kenobe, The Elder. Annie had been a regular contributor to the JSEB newsletter and had an excellent relationship with Miss Manda even prior to Miss Manda joining the JSEB. The JSEB and Annie's website, the Stewart Supremacist Site (SSS), officially became sister sites. The sites started making exciting new plans for joint ventures. Unfortunately, the JSEB had been experiencing problems with its server, and parts of the site were disappearing. Due to the massive size of the site and the JSEB's dislike of ad pages (they ruin overall design), it took a long time to find a new home for the site. This, in combination with the increasingly busy schedules of the officers, meant that the JSEB essentially disappeared for a few months when the server finally shut down. Miss Rebecca retired from the JSEB on September 10, 2000, citing time constraints. She asked Annie-Wan to take over the JSEB and Annie accepted. On September 12, the JSEB officially announced that Annie-Wan was the new President of the JSEB. In actuality, Annie-Wan had been working closely for months with Miss Rebecca and Miss Manda to coordinate the changes and was essentially acting as president during that time. By October 15, the JSEB found a new home at FortuneCity, an ad server. The ads were terrible, but the JSEB decided that an ad server was better than no server at all. The newsletter started back up, and the JSEB arose from the ashes and returned from the dead (though it never really was dead). On November 11, 2000, Nikki, Webmaster/Dryer Lint Inspector, joined the JSEB. She shut down her own impressive site, the Jon Stewart Archives, and added hundreds and hundreds of pictures to the JSEB. Nikki also made many changes and updated the site overall. The site not only returned to its former glory, it got better. It now runs with few glitches, thanks to her help. Chaney, Webmaster/Treasurer of Insanity, officially joined the JSEB on May 6, 2001. Her dedication to Jon Stewart, knack for news, and html prowess combined with Nikki's already formidable skills will mean great things for the future. On June 13, 2001, the site moved to ad-free server DreamHost (yes, we have to pay), and the JSEB site finally returned to the way it should be -- fast-loading and nag-free. Today, the JSEB is the largest Jon Stewart fan club in existence. This could not have happened without the support of you, the dedicated members. So many of you have helped with projects, contributed articles, and kept us updated on news. We could not have survived without your support, and quite frankly, we would not have wanted to survive without you being there for us. Here's to a long and prosperous future.
